German Embassy currently closed - Assistance for leaving Afghanistan
The German Embassy in Kabul has been closed since 15 August 2021 until further notice. Consular support within Afghanistan cannot be guaranteed at present.
German nationals who are still in Afghanistan and want to leave are urgently requested to register at http://afg.diplo.de. This will allow us to communicate specifically with those of you who are still in Afghanistan and are seeking to leave the country.

Afghan nationals and other non-EU nationals need a visa in order to enter Germany.The type of visa you require depends on how long you plan to stay.
The German Embassy in Kabul is currently closed. As a result it is not possible to submit a visa application in Kabul.
Applications for national visa (long stay) can be submitted in Islamabad or New Delhi. Applications for Schengen Visa (short stay) can be submitted at the German Embassies in Islamabad, New-Delhi, Dubai and Istanbul. Please check the information below for further Details.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions for entry into Germany from many countries apply. Persons entering must complete a digital entry registration. They also have to provide a negative test result or proof of immunity, and comply with quarantine regulations depending on the place of departure. Find out more about the current restrictions here.
