German Embassy Kabul
The German Embassy in Kabul has been closed until further notice. Consular support within Afghanistan cannot be guaranteed at present.
The German Embassy in Tehran is temporarily closed to the public for security reasons. The resumption of services is being continuously reviewed in light of the current situation.
The German Embassy in Tehran remains responsible for processing short-term visa applications (Schengen visas) from Iranian nationals who legally reside in Iran and wish to apply for a Schengen visa for travel to Germany. This also applies to cases where Iranian nationals with legal residence in Iran are currently staying in Afghanistan due to the current situation.
The German Embassy in Tehran is also generally still responsible for processing long-term visa applications (national visas) from Iranian nationals who ordinarily reside in Iran.
The Federal Foreign Office is continuously assessing the situation on site as well as alternatives for submitting applications in Tehran for these cases. It is recommended to regularly check the website of the German Embassy in Tehran. Current information regarding the application process for national visas is posted there promptly.
Iranian nationals who legally reside or ordinarily stay in Afghanistan and require a visa (Schengen visa or national visa) to enter Germany can continue to submit their applications at the responsible German diplomatic mission in Islamabad.
