Afghan nationals and other non-EU nationals need a visa in order to enter Germany.The type of visa you require depends on how long you plan to stay.
The visa section of the German Embassy in Kabul remains closed until further notice. As a result it is not possible to submit a visa application in Kabul.
Applications for national visa (long stay) can be submitted in Islamabad or New Delhi. Applications for Schengen Visa (short stay) can be submitted at the German Embassies in Islamabad, New-Delhi, Dubai and Istanbul. Please check the information below for further Details.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS.
Taking into consideration the decision of EU Heads of States and Governments on 17th of March 2020 agreed to implement 30-day travel restrictions for non-EU nationals traveling from outside the EU, the Visa Section for Afghanistan of the German Embassy Islamabad will be closed with effect from Wednesday, March 18th to initially April 19th and the Visa Section of the German Embassy New Delhi will be closed until April 15th, 2020.
The Embassy is notified that the Pakistani and Indian government has ordered to seal all borders with Afghanistan and has closed all of the consular sections inside Afghanistan. The higher authorities of the Embassy are monitoring the situation deeply and you all will be informed soon regarding the decisions made.
