You can find information on visa applications and visa renewal below.

The German Embassy in Kabul has been closed since 15 August 2021.

German nationals who are still in Afghanistan after the end of the military evacuation and who want to leave are urgently requested to register under http://afg.diplo.de. Even if you had already entered your details in the ELEFAND emergency contact list, please register via our new system. This will allow us to communicate specifically with those of you who are still in Afghanistan and are looking to leave.

Please make sure your information is complete and correct!

The Federal Foreign Office has also set up an emergency hotline for German nationals (+49 30-18 17 1000) – but no matter how you seek to contact us, you must register via the portal http://afg.diplo.de.

Attention! We have seen an increase in dubious contacts via social media and misinformation is being spread. Please respond only to individual messages from us via the communication channels mentioned above.

Information for former local employees and other Afghans at particular risk can be found here.
